How to Have Healthy, Happy Skin

I was born with the most finicky skin.

Unexpected rashes, sunburns, bumps and even hives have been a regular part of my life for as long as I can remember. Dealing with eczema and psoriasis is continuous, with the condition fluctuating from mostly under control to highly irritating and embarrassing. Basically, my skin is high maintenance.

I’m not a huge fan of using medication, so I’ve really tried to identify natural ways to manage my skin. Three main things I’ve learned:

  1. Nothing is more important than the food you eat
  2. Meditation & yoga make more of a difference than you may think
  3. Natural products are essential to avoid weird, unexplained skin outbreaks

I really think if you add exercise to the list then you’ve identified some of the most important things in life… but more on that another time.

When I come across natural products that work, and truly help even the most sensitive of skin, I have to share. I know when I was first learning about managing my skin conditions I searched for every tip out there, and not many people put it all in one place. I hope to solve that problem, and PLEASE message me if you have specific questions. All these recommendations are what worked for me, and certainly don’t replace a doctor’s diagnosis/recommendation, but I’d love to share what I’ve learned around the way.

The first product I want to call out is from 100% Pure, a company that you should definitely check out if you haven’t already. Their products are made from pure, natural ingredients and smell AMAIMG_7135ZING. They’re one of the only companies where I can use pretty much every product they have without worrying I’ll get a weird rash afterword.

Their skincare is my favorite part, and what I want to feature today is the lavender toner.
Before using 100% Pure I thought of toners as drying, alcohol-ridden sprays that were just one more thing to irritate my face. This product proved me wrong, and is my go-to when I need to refresh my skin but don’t want to over-wash it. I’ve found that only washing my face once a day (at night to take my makeup off) and using toner in the morning keeps my face fresh, and less irritated.

If you haven’t already, check them out! I could go on forever about their products, so let me know in the comments if there is anything specifically you want recommendations on.
